ORARA adopts donation policy

The Oregon Alliance for Retired Americans (ORARA) exists because retirees still care and want to be informed and involved in the issues of the day

As retirees we certainly focus on Social Security and Medicare issues. As parents and grandparents we care about education and economic issues and as former members of the workforce we support working men and women and their struggle with collective bargaining rights, pension security and healthcare.

The ORARA works very hard to get a seat at the table. We are respected, listened to, and valued because everyone knows seniors not only have knowledge and experience, but we are the demographic group that VOTES!

The unfortunate reality is that being visible and keeping our members informed and involved costs money. ORARA dues are $10.00 per year and we are reluctant to seek an increase because we don’t want to lose a single member; numbers

We sincerely appreciate the generous support our union and senior group partners have given and continue to give us. Our membership has also been very responsive when we have asked them for contributions.
The Oregon Alliance is a 501 (C-3) organization. Any donations beyond the $10.00 dues are tax deductible. The ORARA Board recently passed a policy which will give proper recognition to those who are able to contribute. The policy will be brought forward as an addition to our By-Laws at our convention in April. This policy reads as follows:
“MEMBERS who contribute $100.00 or more, in addition to their annual dues, will receive a silver certificate of membership; those who contribute $250 or more will receive a gold certificate of membership; those who contribute $500 or more will receive a platinum certificate of membership. Donor members will be listed in the annual convention program unless a written request is received to not have their name listed.”
We encourage you to make a contribution to the ORARA and receive recognition for that contribution.
